Honor a loved one with a memorial book
There’s no cure for the grief of losing someone you love, but there are ways to honor them and keep their memory alive. Storyworth Celebrations make it easy to bring everyone together to share memories of your loved one and bind them in a keepsake memorial book you can read and revisit for years to come.
When to create a memorial book
There’s no right time to start a memorial book, but below are a few times to consider.
Invite people to contribute at the memorial service
With everyone who loved them present, the memorial can be a natural place to invite people to contribute to a memorial book. The easiest way to invite people on the day of is to print out and display a unique QR code for your memorial book. When fellow mourners scan the QR code, they’ll automatically be taken to a web page to join your project and contribute to your memorial book. Learn more about QR codes.
Honor them on the one-year anniversary
In the first months after losing a loved one, grief can make even the simplest tasks feel overwhelming. However, as the first year comes to a close, you may be looking for a meaningful way to commemorate the anniversary of your loss. Reaching out to loved ones to gather stories and photos can be a healing way to remember and feel connected to the person you lost.
Even years later can be the right time
Just like there’s no timeline for getting over a loss, there’s no timeline for creating a memorial book. Even years after losing someone, you can still benefit from bringing everyone together to share memories. You may be surprised by the new stories you hear, and you’ll get the unique opportunity to see them through others’ eyes. Together, you can create a treasured keepsake you can all cherish.
How memorial books work
With Storyworth Celebrations, you’ll have all the tools you need to gather memories and photos from everyone. Once you set up your memorial book project, you can invite friends and family to contribute by entering their email addresses along with a short message about what you’d like them to contribute. You can also generate an invite link to share over text or on social media, or print out a QR code to display at the memorial or other gatherings.
Once someone receives their invitation, they will simply respond by email or on our site with their contribution: a memory, poem, photos, or anything else, and we will automatically add it to your memorial book. If you set a target date for when you’d like to print your memorial book, we’ll keep everyone on track with gentle reminders. Once everyone has contributed, our design tools make it easy to arrange the stories and photos and design a book cover that pays tribute to their life.
We understand that creating a memorial book can be challenging, so you can take as much time as you need to complete it. Setting up a memorial book, inviting friends and family to contribute, and designing your book are all free. You’ll only pay for the books you order. Whether it’s one month or 10 years, all the stories and photos will be ready to print in a keep when you are.
