Storyworth’s New Voice Recording and Preservation Features

Storyworth is the original family storytelling service, and we're still leading the way. Our mission hasn't changed: make it easy for everyone to preserve their family's most important stories. But what’s "easy" will be different for everyone, which is why we've built more ways to preserve and share stories than anyone else.

Storytellers can always write stories in writing, either as a reply to their weekly prompt email or with one click on their Storyworth account. In 2024, we introduced Story Calls, which let storytellers tell stories over the phone, even on a landline. Every call is automatically transcribed into their memoir word-for-word, but storytellers can add to it or include photos at any time.

Exclusive audio features

In early 2026, we took storytelling somewhere entirely new. Our two newest voice features don’t just help storytellers share stories; they help them tell them.

Magic Interviews guides storytellers through a phone conversation, asking follow-up questions that help bring stories to life. When the call ends, Storyworth turns the conversation into a written narrative and adds it to their memoir. You can edit stories or add photos at any time.

Family Calls let a friend or family member join a storyteller on a weekly call. They can ask questions or share their own memories, and Storyworth will preserve both voices in your memoir. Family Calls are another way we bring families together through storytelling.

Preserve their voice forever

Storyworth also preserves a loved one's voice in addition to their words. In addition to receiving new stories as they’re shared by email, friends and family can now hear stories as podcasts in a private feed.

Once a memoir is complete, a storyteller’s voice will be preserved in two different ways. Every plan includes a hardcover keepsake book with a QR code linking to their recorded stories, so you can hear them in their own voice anywhere, any time.

You can also download a free audiobook version of their memoir, so their voice is yours to keep, no matter what technology looks like decades from now.
