Father's Day Special 2024

The Storyworth Podcast
Episode Description

In honor of Father's Day, we meet the entire Streeter family: David and Ginny, plus their kids Libby, Reuben, Kaylee, and Connor. Each kid reads their favorite passage from their dad's Storyworth book and shares stories about what it was like growing up with David for a dad.

Below are a few excerpts from the stories that David's children chose to highlight during this episode:

"Very early the next morning, right about daybreak, we heard the commotion coming from the logging road above the house. We heard large trucks, a lot of men talking loudly, and a lot of trees crashing and chainsaws going. We also smelled smoke. Then it happened. Granddad opened the door to the meat house, and the look on his face required no words. We knew exactly what had happened. And so did he."

"I view possessions more as things like my truck or my drums and I certainly enjoy them, but let's get real, they're just things...The hours I've spent driving kids back and forth to soccer practice or dance class or baseball games or spending time at the fair cleaning pens for sheep or driving to the gym for acrobatic lessons or so many other things were 'possessions' that are the most prized in my life. They are shiny jewels that I keep in a special place in my mind..."

"I really don't have a motto, but I've always believed that if I keep moving forward, then eventually I will reach my goal. The basic premise is that even the tiniest movement in a forward direction is progress."

"I think that I chose woodworking as a hobby in order to create forever items for loved ones in my life so that they will have something to remember me by long after I'm gone. For some reason, that is important to me. It's not that I want them to remember me. I want them to remember my message of hope and support of love and acceptance."
