Skyler chased her dreams of being an elite athlete all the way to the 2024 Paris Games. In today’s episode, she discusses her final race as a professional cyclist, why she’s decided to retire early, and what it means to pivot into the unknown. Below, she describes a clarifying moment after the Paralympics.
One of the things that solidified it for me was. The difference between my mindset and Hana's mindset, um, Hana said to me in our day in between our races, like, oh, if I don't podium in LA, that's going to be so embarrassing. And I was like, that's not embarrassing for me at all. Um, and I think that I just am at a place where I feel really content with what I've accomplished. And I felt no desire to like, prove anything more or have any different result because for me it was so hard to get there that getting there was the accomplishment. And I don't feel a need to redo that accomplishment.
