As a gay man in the 1980s, he didn't feel like he could call the police for help and had to depend on his wits alone. On today’s episode, David brings us back to that night and describes both his fear and why he didn't feel that he could share the scariest moment of his life with his family.
I have always said, I wish my family would ask me more questions. These aren't the stories they want to hear, but in a way I want them to hear it so that they know what's happened. The good and the bad. And I thought about my siblings. I just went, there are many things that I don't know about their lives. But they've got spouses and kids and there's people around. And when you're on your own most of the time, sometimes you're the only one who knows.
