Unlock your memories by focusing on the details

As the warmth of balmy summer evenings gives way to the crisp embrace of Fall, it’s hard not to notice the changes happening around us at this time of year.

You may notice the auburn tinge to the leaves or the dewy mist on a cold Fall morning: it’s these details that can really bring a story to life.

Our Tip: When you are writing about a memory or a moment, remember to focus on the details to help set the scene and craft a compelling memory.

Here are a few questions to help you draw out the details of your memories:

  1. What was the weather like? Was it sunny, windy, raining, or snowing?
  2. Was there a familiar or unusual smell? A smell can unlock so many memories; try to recall if you could smell anything.
  3. Can you recall how you felt at the time? Perhaps you were excited, nervous, or surprised.

Whether you are completing your book or contemplating starting a new Storyworth journey, we hope this writing tip helps you capture your meaningful moments and memories.
