New! Audio record your stories
At Storyworth, our mission is to help everyone preserve their most important stories. Since 2014, people from all over the world have used Storyworth Memoirs to write millions of stories.
We know that some stories are easier to tell than write, which is why we created a new way to share stories using just your voice. Now, in addition to writing your story, you can share it over the phone using our new audio recording tool. We’ll automatically transcribe the recording so it can be added to your Storyworth Memoir.
How Does the Storyworth's Voice Recording Work?
If you’d like to voice record your answer to your weekly prompt, simply click on the question in your email to be taken to the story editor in your Storyworth account. Choose ‘record,’ then type in your phone number and click ‘request a call.’

Within moments, you'll receive a call prompting you to tell your story. Start telling your story after the beep and hang up when you're done. A transcription of your story will typically be available in the story editor within minutes depending on the length of the recording. Just like a story you’ve written, you’ll be able to edit or add photos at any time before printing.
Storyworth Voice Recording vs. Writing
Now that you have the option to write or tell your stories, we want to help you discover which option is the best fit for you. You'll always have the option to write some stories and record others. This is your story to tell the way that’s best for you.
Writer’s Block
Writing may work best if you already have a story in mind when you get your weekly prompt. Just dive right in, write as much as you can remember, and go back and edit afterward.
If you need help jogging your memory, audio recording can be a good way to get started. Telling your story over the phone can feel more natural than writing and may help you remember details you haven’t thought of in years. Once it’s transcribed, you can edit or reorder your story.
Time Management
Spending time reflecting, remembering, and writing a story can be a rewarding experience. Finding the right photo or calling a sibling or old friend to remember details can make writing your weekly story fun.
However, we know some weeks are busier than others. If you want to get your story down quickly, request a phone call and record your story in just a few minutes. You can leave editing and photo choices for a quieter moment.
Comfort
Typing at a computer isn’t an option for everyone for many reasons. Voice recording allows you to share your story without the need for strong vision, motor skills, or technical ability.
